Revelation in the Rough: Introduction

Intro

Welcome to some thoughts in the rough on receiving revelation!

 So a few years ago, I took a class on receiving revelation. Day one, we probably violated the fire codes for maximum capacity, there were so many people there. By the end of the semester though, there were only a few left.

 That told me that a lot of people want to know how to receive revelation better.

 It also told me that learning how to receive revelation is stinkin' tough.

 So I am going to put a few thoughts down on (e-)paper on what I have learned in hopes that it helps you too. This is definitely a work in progress; expect changes and refinements as we go on. That also means that if you comment, there is a good chance I'll incorporate your question or learning in some way :).

 dispel some misconceptions, and approach revelation as a path, not a point in   time event

 where revelation comes from, various manifestations of the spirit and what to   expect
5. Using a life goal to channel revelation
 Do His will, and you'll know of the doctrine 
6. Role of repentance in revelation
 overcoming weakness, finding that which was lost
7. How to not be deceived?
 simple tests, discerning truth from error, and humility
8. A personal take on the gospel of Jesus Christ and revelation
 yep
9. Thoughts on the 'rest of God'
 four forms of the rest of God and what we can learn from them
10. How to see enlightenment in everything or TBD based on comments
11. Some personal experiences of revelation or TBD based on comments
12. Closing take-aways and wrap up

 As you can see, I'm approaching this primarily from a Christian perspective, but about two thirds of these topics will have universal application and help anyone who wants to have greater connection, more spirituality, or better meditations.

12 - Super secret hack I learned from Wendy Watson Nelson!

This is Like a Health Cleanse So you know when you resolve to eat healthy food again and you start doing but don't feel any better? Sometimes you need some extra power to wash the muck away. One way to do that is a health cleanse. The technique I am about to teach you is like a health cleanse. It is a disciplined practice you do for 30 days and it can really reset or boost your spiritual system. Wendy Watson Nelson taught me this and it helps you to consistently practice receiving revelation in a grounded manner. Word of caution though - if you aren't trying to eat healthy and you go on a cleanse, it can mess up your systems. Then if you resume junk food right after, the cleanse didn't do you any good. 6 - Repentance and revelation

The Scary Word! Repentance can be a scary word. Part of that is because the English roots of the word come from meanings like regret, pain, punishment, and sorrow. None of those are especially fun. Luckily, the idea of repentance was around way before the English language was! So there is no need to be afraid here. Here is what I have learned about repentance. A Better Definition of Repentance Apparently, the greek word for repentance is metanoia . This word is better translated as 'turning around', 'a change of mind', or 'change of perception'. I have heard that it has roots in being 'off target', or missing your aim with your arrow. So when I talk about repentance in this blog, I am saying we need to change. We need to get better aim.
