5 - Using a life goal to channel revelation
Why do you Want It?
Got a question for you. Why do you want revelation in the first place?
Many people say they love feeling connected, comforted, capable, loved etc.
All of those are great reasons. Now I got another question for you. After you are done feeling loved, connected, etc., then what?
Do you really think that a happy contented feeling is where it ends? Is that as far as you want to go?
Remember that Jesus Christ was always connected to God and that led Him to help all around Him, and even die and take up His body again as a resurrected Being. He didn't sit down on a couch and feel warm inside all day. He went out and did the most good where ever he went.
God gives revelation to those who will make the world better with it. So if you want more than what you have, make a life goals to make the world better.
How do You do This?
Life goals do not need to be complicated. All you need to do is find something to do that will make things better than they are today.
Start with yourself first. If you don't know, use this exercise from Jordan Peterson. Sit on the edge of your bed and ask God or the universe what is wrong in your life, and what you need to improve it. Then just wait for the answer.
Always be asking the question and looking forward with a plan for the future. You will start to see opportunities around you.
Pay Attention, Be Humble
Sometimes you make a life goal that you really believe in, but as you head down, you realize something isn't right. You need to backtrack, reorient, and reform yourself. Sometimes when you really think you are doing the right thing, but realize that you are heading in the wrong direction, it can be very painful.
Pay attention and be humble. I don't want to rehearse horror stories here so let's just say that if you are not continually humble, and watching yourself in your goals, it can lead to some very bad places.
This is why it is important to make sure you are doing all of the things in my previous blog posts first. Get your life in order. get a cadence that opens revelation. Get rid of the distractions that stop you. Get really familiar with what you are receiving and where it is coming from.
Above all, be true to yourself and others. Get rid of every form of deceit you can.
Things get Amazing!!
Once you have a path, and life goals, are working toward them, and staying true to yourself, things get amazing!
Besides being happier, more determined, and having more energy, you can see things start to line up and you are guided to do things you never thought possible. According to my understanding, this is also the time when you get to ask for spiritual gifts, and you can get them.
I am still working on this step myself every day. I still have a lot of struggles and I work very hard to be connected to receive revelation. So far, here are a few cool things from my own experience:
Scripture study is fantastic! Meaning leaps out of the page that you have never seen before.
I meet the most awesome people! Sometimes just when I needed help, someone would show up.
I find things! maybe not important to others, but definitely important to me.
I get super creative! its like the revelation channel opens up my vision of what I can do.
Life is probably still going to be super hard, don't get me wrong. But do you want a super hard life with no coolness, or a super hard life with lots of coolness? I'm okay with things that get amazing despite my trials.

For someone who is a little better at life goals than me, I highly recommend (drum roll!)

Ten Talents
Jesus taught the parable of the ten talents where three servants are given talents of gold to trade. One is given five talents and doubles to ten. The second is given 2 talents and doubles it to 4. The last is given 1 talent and he hides it and is cast off for not using it.
For me, this parable has sounded a little rough for the poor guy at the end who hid his talent. Now I see it a little differently. I see the talents as representing the good you can do in the world. Think about 7 billion people out there who need help and you can be the one to help them.
If you help them a lot, that's great! If you can help only a little, like 2 talents worth, don't worry! What you do will be accepted and multiplied. You still get the blessings! Just don't bury it. There is too much need out there to even consider it. Don't stop at what you have. Go out and make the world better.
Bottom line: If you want to upgrade to the next level, get a life goal and ask God to help you achieve it and watch things take off.
